Kisspeptins are a family of peptides encoded by the KISS1 gene that act at the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R, also known as GPR54). The shorter C-terminal fragments retain receptor activity, and kisspeptin is widely referenced in laboratory research on neuroendocrine signaling and the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis.
