Epithalon (also written Epitalon; sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide analog of the pineal gland extract epithalamin, originally developed at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It is used in laboratory research on telomerase regulation, pineal neuroendocrine signaling, and cellular senescence.

• Induction of hTERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase catalytic subunit) expression and telomerase enzymatic activity in cultured human somatic cells, including fetal fibroblasts that had reached replicative (Hayflick) senescence, with measurable telomere elongation (PMC)
• Cell-type-dependent telomere-lengthening mechanisms — telomerase upregulation in normal fibroblast and epithelial cell lines versus alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) pathway activity in cancer cell lines — in a 2025 independent replication study (PMC)
• AANAT (arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase) and pCREB expression in rat pinealocyte cultures, two regulators of the melatonin biosynthetic pathway (PMC)
• Nocturnal melatonin secretion rhythm normalization in aged rodent and non-human primate models (PubMed)
• Telomerase activation and TERT protein localization in bovine cumulus-oocyte complexes in reproductive-biology research models
